In Volumen 3 of Las literaturas hispánicas: Introducción a su estudio, Evelyn Picon Garfield and Ivan A. Schulman include selections from more than forty Spanish American authors from the sixteenth century to the present day. The variety of literary genres represented here includes poetry, short stories, essays, excerpts from novels, and plays.
