Johnny Trott, orphelin et groom du Grand Hôtel de Savoy à Londres voit sa vie bouleversée par l'arrivée d'une diva célèbre, la comtesse Kandinsky et son magnifique chat Kaspar. Suite à un terrible drame, il recueille le chat qui devient son inséparable compagnon et se lie d'amitié avec Lizbeth, une jeune américaine fougueuse.
