In this book, he traces the evolution of this type of vessel from the oldest prototypes (Hjortspring) to the latest models (Roskilde), with many plans. He then explains their constitution and means of navigation, the religious conceptions and related fantastic figureheads. Finally, he mentioned the modern replicas of these vessels.
